Banner/ Slider Designer for Website
At Nova we promote simplicity. We believe that the banner/slider should be simple and straight to the point. The information should be clean and concise. The idea of the banner is to allow visitors to capture the meaning of the website within the first 2 seconds when the website loads. Here are some of the sample banners we designed. Oh… yes… simple right? But 99% understand what is the gist of the whole website without even combing through the whole page.
Tips to create good banners
1. Define the Purpose
- Highlight Key Content: Use sliders to display important announcements, featured products, or portfolio pieces.
- Avoid Overcrowding: Make sure each slide has a clear message and is not cluttered with too much information.
2. Limit the Number of Slides
- 3-5 Slides Max: Too many slides can overwhelm users. Focus on quality over quantity.
- Maintain a Consistent Style: Ensure all slides follow a cohesive design with similar fonts, colors, and themes.
3. Use High-Quality Images
- Crisp & Clear Visuals: Choose sharp, professional images that align with your website’s brand.
- Optimize for Speed: Compress images for faster loading without compromising quality.
4. Add Clear, Concise Text
- Keep it Short: Use minimal text that communicates the core message quickly.
- Readable Fonts: Choose legible fonts, avoid overly decorative ones, and ensure there’s sufficient contrast between the text and the background.
5. Include a Call-to-Action (CTA)
- Visible CTA: Add buttons or links to encourage users to take action (e.g., “Learn More”, “Shop Now”).
- Position Strategically: Make sure the CTA is in a prominent position without covering critical parts of the image.
6. Ensure Responsiveness
- Mobile-Friendly Design: Your slider should adjust seamlessly across all devices (mobile, tablet, desktop).
- Test on Multiple Screens: Ensure images and text scale properly and the slider doesn’t break the layout.
7. Add Smooth Transitions
- Subtle Animations: Use soft transitions between slides, such as fades or slides, to avoid distracting the user.
- Timing: Adjust the timing between slides, allowing enough time for users to read and understand the content (typically 3-5 seconds per slide).
8. Optimize for SEO
- Alt Text for Images: Make sure each image has alt text for SEO purposes.
- Descriptive Captions: Provide relevant text that can help search engines understand the content of your slider.
9. Use Navigation Arrows & Dots
- Simple Navigation: Add clear arrows and dots that allow users to navigate manually through the slides.
- Allow Pausing: Let users control whether to pause or resume the slider.
